Update on the Child Safe Organisations Act 2024 (Qld) – Commencement of the Reportable Conduct Scheme brought forward

Home » Newsletter Archives » Schools » Update on the Child Safe Organisations Act 2024 (Qld) – Commencement of the Reportable Conduct Scheme brought forward

PREVIOUSLY KNOWN AS

The Child Safe Organisations Act 2024 was originally passed with the commencement of the reportable conduct scheme to be phased in from 1 July 2026 as follows:

  • Phase 1 (July 2026): Child protection services, disability services, justice/detention services, and government bodies.
  • Phase 2 (Jan 2027): Education, health, early childhood, and community services.
  • Phase 3 (Jul 2027): Commercial services for children, transport, religious bodies, and other child-focused activities

However, amendments have been made to the Act so that all in-scope organisations are now required to comply from 1 July 2026.

This brings forward the date when religious bodies and organisation in the health, education, early childhood education and care services, and accommodation and residential sectors must be compliant with the scheme.

The brought-forward date is to ensure that the scheme is applied consistently across sectors and allow the scrutiny of organisation’s conduct to commence sooner.
