PREVIOUSLY KNOWN AS

Family Law

Life can be unpredictable, and sometimes unexpected challenges can deeply impact your family. Whether you’re facing divorce, going through separation, or figuring out co-parenting arrangements (child custody), it can feel overwhelming and leave you with a million questions. However, you don’t have to go through this alone.

At Vocare, we understand the emotional rollercoaster that comes with family law issues. We’re a values-based law firm and we believe in treating everyone with respect and compassion. We know this is a difficult time, and we’re here to help you on this journey.

Family Law

What is Family Law?

Family Law in Australia covers legal issues that arise throughout family relationships, including marriage, de facto relationships, separation, and divorce. This can involve complex situations like parenting orders for parenting arrangements (child custody), financial support for children (child support), domestic violence, and dividing assets and debts fairly after separation (property settlement).

The Family Law System prioritises the best interests of children in all decisions and encourages separated couples to find solutions outside of court through mediation or negotiation, like family dispute resolution, whenever possible. Vocare adopts a collaborative approach with a strong emphasis on alternative dispute resolution as opposed to litigation.

Our Family Law Services

SEPARATION

Having relationship or separation issues and not sure if divorce is the right step?

We can help you navigate the legalities of separation, including financial arrangements and living situations, while you figure things out.

PARENTING PLANS & CO-PARENTING

Working out how to co-parent after separation can be difficult, especially when dealing with issues regarding domestic and family violence.

We can help you to negotiate and formalise a Co-Parenting (also known as Child Custody) agreement that prioritises your children’s wellbeing and safety. Where an agreement cannot be reached or it is unsafe to negotiate, we can advise and assist you to pursue other options, including Court if necessary.

We’ll help you put together parenting arrangements that prioritise your children’s well-being and ensure clear communication between parents.

DIVORCE

We understand the emotional and financial stress divorce can bring.

We’ll guide you through the legal process clearly and efficiently, working to achieve a fair outcome for you and your family members.

PROPERTY SETTLEMENT

Dividing assets after separation can be complex.

We’ll ensure a transparent and fair property settlement process, considering your financial situation and future needs.

Whether it is by way of consent orders or a financial agreement, we focus on providing creative solutions to achieve a just and equitable division of a property pool.

FINANCIAL AGREEMENTS (FAs)

Considering entering a de facto relationship? Want a prenup before marriage?

A Financial Agreement can provide clarity and peace of mind by outlining how finances will be handled in case of separation.

We can provide legal assistance in drafting and finalising a comprehensive FA before and during a marriage or relationship or after separation

CHILD SUPPORT

Worried about child support arrangements being fair?

We can help you understand your rights and obligations under a child support assessment, negotiate a reasonable Binding Child Support Agreement, or advise you about your other options if necessary.

CHILD PROTECTION

We understand that working with the Department of Child Safety is difficult and at times overwhelming.

We can provide legal advice and support if your family is affected by Child Safety issues in any form.

INTERNATIONAL ISSUES IN FAMILY LAW

Do you need to bring your children back to Australia or prevent them from being taken overseas? Does your Family Law matter involve overseas assets?

We have experience in handling complex international family law matters, including Hague Convention matters and international property settlements.

Vocare Law (formerly known as Corney & Lind Lawyers) are approachable, professional, and knowledgeable about the law as it relates to the Christian and nonprofit sector, and I regularly recommend them to Christian Management Australia members as a firm who they can trust.

In a recent practical example my local church needed expert legal advice on a difficult matter unique to the church sector.

I recommended that our pastor approach Vocare Law, and we quickly received a clear, straight forward response that equipped us to address the issue appropriately.
